| -- Rosemont Manor-- -- "Steel Baron" E.T. Weir's former summer home -- This magnificent stone mansion stands majestically at the edge of a cliff overlooking the winding Ohio River. Once it was an exclusive haven for the upper echelon of National and Weirton Steel Corporations. Tucked away at the end of a serpentine private road it was out of reach of anyone except a privileged few. Now the public may enjoy this wonderful piece of history as a bed-and-breakfast, a corporate retreat, or a special place for social events such as weddings, anniversaries, reunions, etc. Construction of Rosemont Manor began in 1929. Each stone of the 10,000 square foot mansion was barged in from Brownsville Pennsylvania and hand carried up the mountainside from the Ohio River. The mansion was finally completed in 1932. Wide stone arched, verandas wrap around the mansion providing spectacular views of the Ohio River Valley. Gazing back from the "tête-à-tête" gazebo to the estate, the picturesque scene can only be described appropriately here in West Virginia as "almost Heaven". The grounds have been painstakingly tailored to "putting-green" quality, and manicured to perfection. Flagstone walkways invite you from the parking area, surround the lodge, and lead to the outdoor swimming pool. Rosemont Manor will retain its splendor and majesty for all to enjoy. Imagine what an unforgettable experience you would have for just an evening or as an overnight guest. Romance and tranquility are in the air at Rosemont Manor. This is unequivocally the jewel of West Virginia's Northern Panhandle. Contact: admin@rosemontmanor.com Click the buttons in the left column for more details |
